Alchimisti was founded in 2016 by Flavia Giuzio.
Born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I moved away from home at the age of 17. After living in London, England, I moved to California in 2009. In 2014, I graduated from University of Southern California majoring in Dramatic Arts. In 2016 I decided to go back to school and pursue my passion for sewing, designing and pattern making at Otis College of Art and Design.
I have always been a maker. Ever since I was a little girl I was always creating art as a way to express myself. I started sewing about two years ago and never looked back. To me, sewing is a form of moving meditation. It taught me how to be more patient, humble and showed me the REAL value of clothes.
When you make your own clothes you quickly realize that EVERYTHING you wear was made by a PERSON. The fashion industry currently attempts to take away this connection between maker and customer by creating this fake illusion of "fast fashion" and mechanization. However, in most cases unfortunately, fashion is the result of the hard labor of underpaid workers in far away countries.
So how we you break away from this cycle of deception? Simple: By making your own clothes! No underpaid workers in inhumane conditions, no harmful waste for the environment, no giving away your money to greedy corporations. Just you and your sewing machine.
And the best of all, making clothes that fit YOUR body and display your style. I believe fashion is about creating pieces that are unique and deeply personal. Who cares what everyone else is wearing?! I can say that I MADE THIS, and that is the inspiring and liberating feeling I want to share with you!
So join me in this journey of empowerment and cool fashion.
Let's start a revolution from inside out!!
